With Sanchar Saathi: Everything You Should Know About An Internet Tool For Tracking And Blocking Missing Mobile Devices

The Sanchar Saathi portal, developed by the Department of Telecom, enables users to disable and monitor their stolen or lost mobile phones across India. According to Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Sanchar Saathi Portal will allow users to verify the legitimacy of a used device before purchasing.

The Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) is the first component of the Sanchar Saathi site. You can go to this link if you misplace your cell phone. Following some identity verification and an undertaking requirement, the portal will communicate with telecom service providers and law enforcement organizations to disable your misplaced cell phone, according to Vaishnaw.

The facilities for Sanchar Saathi were created by C-DoT. The Department of Telecom’s technology development division has been successful in adding a capability to monitor the usage of counterfeit mobile phones across all telecom networks.

Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and the North East are just a few of the telecom circles where C-DOT has been testing the technology. To avoid being tracked and blocked, thieves who steal mobile phones alter the IMEI number of the device.

The IMEI number of the device and the mobile number associated with it will be visible to telecom carriers and the CEIR system, and the data is utilized in some states to track your lost or stolen mobiles using CEIR. With the use of numerous databases, the CEIR will be able to prohibit any cloned mobile devices on the network.

Before a mobile handset can be sold in India, the Indian government has made it essential to publish the IMEI, a 15-digit unique numeric identity. The list of authorized IMEI numbers will be available to mobile networks across the nation, allowing them to verify for the presence of any unauthorized mobile devices on their network.
